A Bellevue woman died as the result of a Friday morning crash on Highway 75.

Ashley Jones, 52, died after a major crash at about 6 a.m. on the highway near Cornhusker Road. Bellevue Fire and Rescue responded to the scene and transported her by amublance to the Nebraska Medicine trauma center.

A report from the Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office states that she was driving a Chevy Sonic northbound on Highway 75, also known as the Kennedy Freeway, when she slowed down while approaching a disabled semi-truck that had pulled over onto the shoulder and was rear-ended by a Dodge Dakota.

The 26-year-old man from Plattsmouth who was driving that vehicle sustained minor injuries in the crash, which remains under investigation by the Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office Crash Response Unit.
