SPARTANBURG COUNTY, SC : School bus crash sends 2 students, driver to hospital on August, Friday 18th 2017

A school bus crash in Spartanburg County sent two students and the driver to the hospital early Friday morning, South Carolina Highway Patrol troopers said.

The crash was reported on Highway 150, which is Glenn Springs Road, at Whitestone Road.

The bus involved belonged to Spartanburg School District Three, the district's communications director Sherri Horton said.

The bus went off the road and side-swiped a tree, troopers say.
Trooper Joe Hovis said the bus was headed east on Highway 150 when it crossed the center line and ran off the left side of the road, side-swiping a tree.

The driver was taken to Spartanburg Regional Health System with unknown injuries, Hovis said.

Two Broome High School students were on the bus, Horton said. The students were also taken to the hospital as a precaution, according to Hovis.

The road in that area was blocked as crews remove the bus from the crash site.

Troopers determined later in the morning that the driver suffered a medical issue, and no charges would be filed. The exact medical issue was not released.
