ST. LOUIS, MO: 1 person killed in two-vehicle accident near high school in Troy, Ill. on Tuesday, 24th October 2023

One person is dead following a two-vehicle accident near Troy, Ill., Illinois State Police say.

According to ISP, the crash happened on US Route 40 near Illinois Route 162. This is right by the Triad High School. Troopers responded to the accident at 7:15 a.m. One person has been pronounced dead.

US-40 was shut down before Bethany Road and IL-162 while officers investigated, but reopened at 10 a.m.

First Alert 4 has reached out to the Triad School District to find out if any students or faculty members were involved.
