Alexandria, LA : Bunkie man killed in single-car accident near La. Highway 114 on Saturday afternoon, March 25, 2017

Saturday afternoon, a single-vehicle crash seriously injured a Bunkie man who later died at Rapides Regional Trauma Center.

Troopers responded to the crash around 1:40 p.m., which occurred on La. Highway 1 near La. Highway 114. The crash involved a 2004 Infiniti Q45, driven by Jeffrey Johnson, 52, of Bunkie. The Infiniti was northbound on La. 1 when Johnson lost control and ran off the right side of the road. The car then hit a tree.

The report from State Police indicates Johnson was not wearing a seat belt.

Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation.

Troop E Troopers have investigated twelve fatal crashes in 2017, resulting in 17 fatalities, including three from Saturday.
