MULBERRY, FL : A 36-year-old Mulberry man died in a one-car accident on Saturday, June 3, 2017

A 36-year-old Mulberry man died in a one-car accident early Saturday morning, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office said.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, Nathan Cyrus Van Pelt was driving a 2004 black Pontiac Grand Am north on 10th Street about 12:10 a.m. at a high rate of speed when he failed to make a sharp right turn in the road.
He lost control of the vehicle, which hit a wooden utility pole. It appears Van Pelt was not wearing his seat belt.
Van Pelt was pronounced dead at the scene, the Sheriff’s Office said.
The investigation is ongoing.
