Police are searching for an alleged hit-and-run-driver who collided with a city man riding a motorized scooter on Rodman Street Monday night, police said.
The collision injured the driver of the motorized scooter, a 24-year-old city man who was rushed to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment of injuries that Detective John Robinson, a police department spokesman, said were not life-threatening.
Witnesses told police a dark blue Ford F-series Super Duty was stopped in the right-turn lane on Rodman Street where it intersects with Plymouth Avenue about 9:30 p.m.
The 24-year-old man was waiting at the light beside the truck on a motorized scooter in the center lane, Robinson said.
Instead of turning right, the operator of the truck accelerated forward and sideswiped the scooter, which was in the correct lane to travel straight through the intersection.
