Suffolk ,VA : North Carolina man has been charged after crash with Isle of Wight bus on Friday morning ,May 15th 2015

A North Carolina man has been charged following a crash on Friday that involved a school bus.

On Friday, about 7:10 a.m., an Isle of Wight County school bus and work truck crashed at Portsmouth Boulevard and Suburban Drive, according to Suffolk police. The bus driver, Jennie Boykins, 67, of Zuni, was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with critical injuries. She was listed in fair condition today, police said. A school bus aide who had minor injuries was taken to Sentara Obici Hospital.

Christopher Wells, 32, of Gates County, N.C., was flown to Sentara Norfolk General. He was also listed in fair condition today. He has been charged by Suffolk police with failure to stop at a red light.

There were no children on the bus at the time of the crash.
