Rosenberg, TX : One injured when car crashes into Rosenberg vet clinic Tuesday morning, August 30, 2016
Police said one person was treated for cuts and scrapes when a car crashed into a veterinary clinic Tuesday morning in Rosenberg.
The crash was reported at 11:46 a.m. at the Rosenberg Veterinary Clinic, near the intersection of Highway 90 and Herndon Road.
Dr. Bill Hester, DVM, was in an examining room with a client and her dog when the car crashed through the front window, traveled through the waiting room and into the examining room.
“I hear a loud crash, boom, and all of a sudden the front end of a car is sitting here next to us in this room with this whole wall pushed in.” Hester said.
At least three people were sitting in the waiting room with their pets. One woman jumped out of the way just before the car crashed into the chair where she was sitting.
Another woman and her dog were pinned for a while after the car pushed the bench where they were sitting into a counter.
“A long time ago, I had these benches made. They're stout. You can see it really didn't hurt the bench. She's fine. She got up and walked out of here,” Hester said.
The woman's dog was uninjured.
The third customer, who received minor injuries, was sitting on another bench that was sitting against the front glass. She was checked out at a local hospital, but not seriously hurt.
The driver of the car, an 89-year-old woman, lost control of her car as she attempted to park near the front door.
“Instead of hitting the brake, she hit the gas and drove into the building. About three-fourths of the car went in,” Lt. William Henry with the Rosenberg Police Department, said.
The driver was uninjured. Lt. Henry said she won't be charged.
