Urbana, IL : Driver arrested in driving under the influence after he crashed his car through the wall of a home on Saturday August 9th 2014

An Urbana man has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after he crashed his car through the wall of a home. Champaign County sheriff's Sgt. Jeff Vercler says the crash occurred about 4:30 a.m. Saturday in east Urbana. The driver ran off the road at a curve, running over a stop sign and striking the corner of a home. The front of the car punched through the wall of a bedroom. The home's owner was in another room at the time and was not harmed. The driver, Andrew Shannon, was taken to Carle Foundation Hospital and later transferred to Champaign County Jail. He was scheduled to appear in bond court Saturday.
