AXTON,VI : One man dies in Henry County traffic accident on August, Saturday 5th 2017

One man is dead after a traffic accident Saturday night in Henry County. Around 6:10 p.m. on Saturday, Virginia State Police officers were called out to the portion of Route 610 one mile south of Irisburg Road, after a report came in of a single vehicle accident.

A 2000 Mercury Grand Marquis, driven by an Axton man, had been heading south on Route 610 when it suddenly went off the right side of the road and hit a tree. The 61-year-old driver died at the scene and there was no one else in the vehicle. State police officials say that the driver was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the incident and they’re still investigating what caused the crash.
