One person was killed and another critically injured Monday in a wreck on State Road A1A in Ponte Vedra Beach.
According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, Sarita May, 82, of Ponte Vedra, was killed when the car she was a passenger in was struck by another vehicle at the intersection of A1A and L’Atrium Boulevard.
The report says a 2005 Toyota Prius driven by David Sparrow, 74, of Pittsboro, North Carolina, was turning left from A1A onto L’Atrium Boulevard when it was struck by a Lexus RX 350 that was going north on A1A.
Sparrow suffered critical injuries in the wreck. After the initial collision, the Lexus overturned, and the Prius spun clockwise, striking the pole to the traffic signal support, the FHP report said.
The driver of the Lexus, Regan Lester, 38, of Ponte Vedra, suffered minor injuries.
