Moultrie, GA : 2 men injured after a wreck on Doerun-Norman Park Road on Saturday, October 8, 2016

A Moultrie man ejected from a truck in a Saturday night wreck remained hospitalized in serious condition on Tuesday, while the driver, also still hospitalized, has been charged with DUI.

Steven Walden, 24, was thrown from the truck into a yard after driver Wesley Copeland, 30, also of Moultrie lost control of a 1965 Chevrolet half-ton pickup truck, according to the Georgia State patrol.

Copeland was driving west at about 9:29 p.m. on Doerun-Norman Park Road when he went off the right side of the roadway, TFC3 Michael Moses said. At that point the driver overcorrected, traveling across both lanes and off again on the left side of the road.

The truck then hit a mail box, overturned and came to rest in a yard at 3833 Doerun-Norman Park Road, Moses said.

Walden was in serious condition on Tuesday afternoon at Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville, a spokeswoman there said.

Serious condition means the patient’s vital signs may be unstable or not within normal limits, is acutely ill and that indicators are questionable.

Copeland was listed in stable condition on Tuesday at Colquitt Regional Medical Center, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Copeland was charged with driving under the influence, failure to maintain lane and open container, Moses said.
