On Sunday August 21, 2016, at approximately 2:30 P.M., Idaho State Police investigated a two vehicle injury crash on Interstate 84 near Burley.
Johnny Sherwood, 62, of Bloomfield, NM, was driving eastbound on I84 in a 2005 Peterbilt hauling a car hauler loaded with seven passenger cars. Bloomfield drove off the right shoulder, into the borrow pit, corrected the vehicle back onto the roadway and across the eastbound lanes of travel where it overturned and came to rest on the passenger side. Three of the passenger cars were dislodged from the Peterbilt's attached trailer. Christian O'Dell, 39, of Homedale, ID, was also driving eastbound on I84 in a 1999 Plymouth Breeze. O'Dell slowed for the crash, but collided with the Peterbilt.
O'Dell's passengers Amy O'Dell, 38, of Homedale, ID, and two juveniles were transported by ground ambulance to Minidoka Memorial Hospital. Sherwood was also transported to the hospital by ground ambulance.
All occupants involved were wearing a seatbelt.
Eastbound I84 was blocked for approximately two and a half hours.
NOTE: State police later confirmed that a fifth individual was transported to the hospital as a result of this crash but they did not have that person's identity.
