Loveland, CO : Two killed in head-on Loveland crash Monday night on Tuesday, 23rd August, 2016
Two motorists were killed late Monday when a speeding and impaired wrong-way driver smashed into an oncoming sedan in east Loveland, police said.
A 44-year-old Greeley man was driving a 2014 Toyota Tacoma west in the eastbound lanes of the 7000 block of U.S. Highway 34, east of Interstate 25 on the edge of Loveland's city limits. Several other motorists in the area managed to avoid the wrong-way driver, but about 10:08 p.m. the pickup crashed head-on with an eastbound 2006 Kia Rio, Loveland police said Tuesday.
The driver of the Kia, a 21-year-old Broomfield woman, slammed on the brakes and tried to swerve to the right to avoid the collision, investigators said. The two vehicles hit head-on and came to a stop almost immediately.
