Garden City, KS : Three people were injured in a head-on collision in Garden City on Monday, August 28, 2017
Three people were injured in a head-on collision in Garden City Monday afternoon after an elderly woman drove the wrong way onto a highway ramp.
Delores A. Dellere, 80, Selden, drove her Buick Enclave westbound onto an eastbound ramp of U.S. Highway 50 between mile markers 65 and 66 and merged into oncoming traffic at around 3:40 p.m., according to the Kansas Highway Patrol. She collided with Aristeo Fierro, 57, Garden City, as he approached in his Mitsubishi Diamante. As a result of the collision, Fierro then struck Juana S. Sanchez, 59, who was driving a Nissan Titan.
Dellere’s vehicle came to a rest on the center median, Fierro’s came to rest in the eastbound lane of U.S. 50, and Sanchez’s vehicle came to rest in the eastbound emergency lane of U.S. 50.
All three drivers were taken to St. Catherine Hospital. Sanchez refused treatment at the scene.
All three drivers were wearing their seat belts.
