Bridgeport, CT : Stamford man died in a fatal car crash in Bridgeport on Saturday, June 18, 2016
Police say they expect to file charges in connection with a fatal weekend car crash in Bridgeport that tore one vehicle in half and left a 600-foot long debris field.
Police identified the victim of the crash at about 5 a.m. Saturday as 31-year-old Felipe Soto, of Stamford.
The Connecticut Post reports that Soto was on Fairview Avenue when his car was struck by another vehicle traveling south on Main Street.
Soto's car was split in two, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. The other car struck a pole and rolled onto its roof.
The driver, a 62-year-old Bridgeport man, was taken to the hospital, where he is listed in critical condition.
The crash remains under investigation but police say speed appears to be a factor.
