Topeka, KS : 18-year-old motorcyclist suffered minor injuries after colliding on Tuesday, 24th April 2018
An 18-year-old motorcyclist suffered minor injuries after colliding with a vehicle Tuesday in front of Topeka High School.
The incident was reported about 3 p.m.
The motorcyclist, a student at Topeka High School, had exited one of the school’s parking lots on S.W. 10th Avenue and was headed eastbound when he collided with a gray Ford Escape that was pulling out from a parking spot on 10th, Topeka police Sgt. Hoa Lam said.
After the collision, the motorcycle skidded for several feet before coming to a stop.
The motorcyclist was driving at a high rate of speed, Lam said, and will be issued a citation.
The motorcyclist was wearing a helmet, but Lam said he was still “very lucky.” Around 3:30 p.m., an ambulance transported the motorcyclist to a local hospital to be treated for minor injuries.
The Ford sustained damage to its front left-hand side.
S.W. 10th was blocked in both directions as emergency crews responded.
