A three-car crash Tuesday on Colo. 115 left a Colorado Springs man dead and a Cañon City woman injured.
The crash happened at about 5:30 p.m. when Tessa Clark, 26, of Colorado Springs lost control of her Nissan Maxima while traveling south on Colo. 115.
According to the Colorado State Patrol, Clark’s vehicle struck the right side of a Chevy Silverado driven by Beverly Merlino, 56, of Cañon City, who also was traveling south. Merlino’s vehicle was pushed into the northbound lane, where it collided head-on with a northbound Nissan Sentra, driven by Bryon Bauer, 51, of Colorado Springs.
Clark was uninjured in the crash, but Merlino suffered serious bodily injuries and was transported to the hospital. Bauer sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The three drivers were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
Drugs and alcohol are not suspected to be contributing factors in the crash, which remains under investigation.
