Newport, R.I : Woman, boy critically injured in motor scooter crash in Newport on Sunday, July 31, 2016
Police say a woman and a 10-year-old boy were critically injured after a motor scooter lost control and crashed in Newport.
38-year-old Heather Brigham, of West Warwick, was operating a Scoot Coupe eastbound when she lost control on Sunday. The three-wheeled, two-person scooter rolled onto its side and sideswiped a car traveling westbound.
Brigham and the passenger were ejected from the vehicle.
Police say Brigham wasn't wearing a helmet and suffered severe injuries. She was taken to Newport Hospital and later transported to Rhode Island Hospital, where she's listed in critical condition.
The passenger was wearing a helmet but also suffered severe injuries. He is currently at Hasbro Children's Hospital in stable condition. He wasn't immediately identified.
