Oakland County, MI : Ortonville man, 24, killed after crashing Jeep into tree in Bloomfield Township on Saturday, May 14, 2016

A 24-year-old Ortonville man is dead after he lost control of his 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee on Long Lake Road and struck a tree.

Bloomfield Township Police say the single-car crash occurred about 9:52 p.m. Saturday. A 22-year-old female passenger from West Bloomfield remains hospitalized in stable condition.

Police say alcohol and speed appear to be factors in the incident.

The Jeep was traveling eastbound on Long Lake from Telegraph Road when the driver lost control and left the roadway. Both occupants were transported to a local hospital.

The cause of the crash is currently under investigation by the Bloomfield Township Traffic Investigations Unit. Members of the Southeast Oakland County Crash Investigations Team (SOCCIT) assisted with the on-scene investigation.

Police are seeking information from anyone who witnessed the crash.
