Athens, AL : 1 woman killed, 2 people hurt in multi-vehicle wreck on U.S. Highway 31 South, just north of the Huntsville Brownsferry Road on Tuesday, 22nd September, 2020

A woman was killed and two other people were injured in a three-car wreck in Athens on Tuesday afternoon.

It happened on U.S. Highway 31 South, just north of the Huntsville Brownsferry Road intersection, said Athens Police Department Capt. Trevor Harris.Harris said multiple southbound vehicles were stopped for a red light when the driver of an SUV approaching the same intersection rear-ended a compact car with two occupants and shoved it into the next car in line.

The middle car was forced left into the median while the SUV and sedan spun to a stop in the southbound lanes of Hwy. 31, he said.
