Lakeland ,FL : One Person killed after driver of stolen car causes head-on crash along North Galloway Road on Friday night ,April 3rd 2015

One man is dead after a vehicle with six people inside hit the man's car head-on in Lakeland.

The SUV involved in Friday night’s crash on North Galloway Road had been reported stolen earlier in the day.
The owner of the SUV said he had left it running briefly in his driveway and went inside his home. When he came back outside, his Buick Rendezvous was gone.
Deputies later spotted the Buick speeding on Galloway Road and started chasing the suspect, but briefly stopped the chase.
The suspect crashed a short time later into a Toyota 4 Runner.
The driver of the Toyota, Matthew Smith, 31, died.
Lakeland police investigated the crash scene.
Police said the driver of the Buick crossed a double-yellow line and hit Smith head-on.
Smith’s car rotated and landed on the east shoulder of the roadway.
Six people were inside the Buick and all were taken to Lakeland Regional Health, except for one juvenile who was taken to Tampa General Hospital.
Detectives have not identified the three juveniles and six adults in the stolen car, but said one of them had a loaded handgun in his pocket.
Five of the people were stable with serious injuries.
An investigation is still underway and no charges have been filed.
